Țărani și muncitori noi suntem (Peasants and workers we are) is a series of photographs depicting working-class characters toys in (former) industrial sites. In post-socialist Romania, as in all of Eastern Europe, the working class has lost its statute from before 1989. We are no longer building monumental statues depicting workers or naming streets in the name of the proletarian class. Subjects like class divide and social injustice are rarely discussed, and the former celebrated sites of the industry are becoming ruins. Through this project, I'm trying to see if this context can become a playground. If, by treating recent history in a playful manner instead of a tragic one, we can better understand and talk about it?
Presents in the group exhibition Urban Insights (2021) at Galeria 15 Design UAP (Romanian Union of visual artists gallery for design).
